Q & A

There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that same day discharge is safe and effective in a select patient population. COVID-19 has propelled same day discharge programs forward as institutions aim to decrease length of stay as a way of reducing risk of exposure to COVID-19 to both staff and patients. Using data collected from our institution between 2017-2021, this webinar will explore the evidence behind the trend to discharge total joint arthroplasty patients on the same day of surgery, describe how rehabilitation has evolved to facilitate same day discharge, identify barriers and describe how we successfully overcame those barriers.
