The uniqueness of the female anatomy and endocrinology makes female runners susceptible to certain injuries that have increased prevalence compared to male runners. From adolescence to adulthood, peri-partum and menopause, hormonal fluctuations affect the female body and may change the way we treat, train and rehabilitate runners at different stages in their life. Join us to learn risk factors, injury prevention tips, treatment and evidence-based rehabilitation plans for female patients.

The uniqueness of the female anatomy and endocrinology makes female runners susceptible to certain injuries that have increased prevalence compared to male runners. From adolescence to adulthood, peri-partum and menopause, hormonal fluctuations affect the female body and may change the way we train and rehabilitate runners at different stages in their life. This course will highlight the female anatomy’s effect on running mechanics, review hormonal changes across the lifespan, discuss specific injuries seen in females more frequently than males and provide an evidence-based review of injury prevention and maintaining healthy, safe running habits throughout each stage.
