Orthopedic Core Curriculum - Neurological Screen: Upper and Lower Quarter
Description
This course is part of the Orthopedic Core Curriculum for rehabilitation professionals. The focus of this module is neurological screening for upper and lower quarter. You will learn: critical thinking during subjective examination of the patient; planning an effective objective examination; identification, assessment and risk factors for various body regions; reg flags and when medical referral to a physician is needed; differential diagnosis creation; development of a plan of care using a case-based approach; creation of collaborative goals that are achievable and meaningful to the patient.

Learning Objectives

- Interpret normal and abnormal findings of an Upper and Lower Quarter Screen test
- Apply appropriate techniques when performing an Upper and Lower Quarter Screen as supported by available evidence

Neurological Screen: Upper and Lower Quarter (60 mins)

A solid foundation of the most current information and considerations in treating patient with musculoskeletal related impairments and functional limitations is required for both new and seasoned orthopedic clinicians. This lecture on the neurological screen of the upper and lower quarter will highlight the critical thinking process that occurs during evaluations and while developing plans of care for patients through a case-based approach. Key items in this lecture include identifying appropriate scenarios when upper and lower quarter screens are indicated; selection and implementation of appropriate techniques for neurological screens based on current evidence.
This activity is targeted to physical therapists and athletic trainers.
